Scott Timcke (PhD, Simon Fraser University) is a political economist of digital technology and democratic life. He is a Research Associate of the University of Johannesburg’s Centre for Social Change and an Affiliate with the Center for Information, Technology, and Public Life, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Previously he held a LUCAS-LAHRI Research Fellowship at the University of Leeds’ Centre for African Studies and was a Tenure Track Lecturer in Communication Studies at The University of The West Indies, St. Augustine. His second book, Algorithms and The End of Politics, was released in February 2021 and his third book, The Political Economy of Fortune and Misfortune: Prospects for Prosperity in Our Times, will be released in March 2023.
