This conversation between Samara Concepcion, host of the Birth: A New Story course, and Carly Mountain, will explore how the descent and rising of childbirth relates to the myth of Inanna and how essential the initiation of childbirth is for our personal and collective health.

About this webinar

Birth, by design, is an altered state of consciousness that intends to take a birthing woman beyond her usual self so that she can be transformed on every level as she enters motherhood. This journey of descent and rising is the core initiation of the feminine. Just like the goddess Inanna descended into the underworld to be stripped from all that she thought she was, to later return to the world more whole than before, a birthing woman will undergo a similar experience of death and rebirth.

Carly Mountain is a writer, psychotherapist and women’s initiatory guide, who specialises in working with sexuality, relationships and embodiment. She is author of Descent & Rising: Women’s Stories & the Embodiment of the Inanna Myth. Carly facilitates people at the threshold of change to deepen intimacy with themselves and their lives. Her writing and work seeks to uncover what has been exiled or hidden within, that is longing to be remembered and reconnected with. A mythopoetic process that leads us back into intimacy with all that we have been estranged from, so that we can become more of who we are, and have always been.

What You'll Learn
